(Wool can absorb a lot of moisture and keep the skin dry and warm.
Because wool contains natural lanolin, so it can be worn directly on the skin without smelling bad.
Wool is light, durable and flexible. And, it can be felted into entire uppers in one piece.
Because it is a natural and renewable material that can be composted after use.
So why don't we use more wool for footwear?
Because there is no tradition for it!
Because wool shoes have traditionally been perceived as slippers, or old-fashioned winter boots from Russia.
The traditional shoe industry has found it easier to produce footwear from hides, leather and synthetic materials to meet the market's aesthetic demands.
Today we have a highly industrialized shoe production, which can be difficult to convert to more sustainable materials.

The Principle of Felting Uppers
Making woolen uppers is in fact a simple process.
You make a sock of woolen felt.
You insert your last.
Then you shrink the sock around your last
Finally you attach a sole.
